With Fortnite back on the Apple’s US App Store as of 2025-05-20, UK customers and news outlets may have assumed it’d return in Britain as well. Alas, this wasn’t the case.
The closest I can get on 2025-05-25 is something called 1v1.LOL – Battle Royale Game, which looks about as safe as licking a used handkerchief.
However, at the bottom of Epic’s announcement from 2024-08-16 that EU citizens could obtain a native iOS version via the Epic Game Store, an FAQ promises:
Thanks to new competition laws, we plan for a downloadable version to come to the UK and Japan in the second half of 2025!
This agrees with a post on Epic’s X feed from 2025-05-24, so it’s not new info, but the fact it hasn’t been removed suggests, at least, that it’s still accurate from Epic’s point of view.
Of course, thanks to Brexit, the UK can’t benefit from the EU’s insistence that Apple allow alternate marketplaces on iOS, but at least, it seems, all hope is not lost for a return of the battle royale.
